Cornwall holds some wonderful delights, including some of the tastiest foods around. From Cornwall, known worldwide for their legendary clotted creams that provides us with a velvety smooth texture, that makes creams delights - such as a clotted cream and jam scones - an absolute treat, we can also source some of our dairy ice cream treats, courtesy of the leading company Kelly’s of Cornwall.
This company was originally founded by an Italian man who moved to St Austell of Cornwall in the late 19th century. Recognising how fish and chips, and ice cream were often grouped together as a must have on a quintessential English summer’s day, this man started up this business providing both savoury and sweet dishes to the holiday makers and general public. In 1918, however, the business only provided Kelly’s of Cornwall ice creams, using the first beginnings of what we now know as an ice cream van. Using a horse and cart, Lazero Calicchia distributed the Kelly’s of Cornwall ice cream all around Cornwall.
Today, Kelly’s of Cornwall are a leading brand of ice cream, providing their products nationally and allowing their ice creams to be sold in some select supermarkets. Kelly’s of Cornwall ice cream is a permanent feature in the Royal Cornwall show after its debut there in 1947, where it proved extremely popular. Apart from the sale of Kelly’s of Cornwall in leading supermarkets and promotional shows, there is a fleet of ice cream vans and scoop parlours that provide Kelly’s of Cornwall ice cream. With a whole host of flavours using only the best dairy products from cattle that graze on the lushest grasses, there is plenty to choose from with Kelly’s of Cornwall.
From your classic clotted cream, vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice creams, to the more decedent butterscotch pecan, salted caramel and Eton mess, there is a scoop of Kelly’s of Cornwall ice cream for everyone. Rocky road and Cherry Bakewell take your classic flavours and create an ice cream dessert as unique as the brand of Kelly’s ice cream. For those of you that enjoy a fruity treat, Kelly’s of Cornwall produce sorbets and use natural ingredients such as real banana pieces in the banana split ice cream, or the blackcurrants in the blackcurrant and cream flavour ice cream. With 25 scooping flavours to choose from, is it any wonder that Kelly’s of Cornwall has become a leading best seller and one of the brands that L. Lewis are proud to provide.
Company reviews of ice cream parlours and ice cream vans have been extremely positive, showing that Kelly’s of Cornwall ice cream is an excellent choice of product to sell, whether you are taking your ice cream out to the public, or you own an ice cream café and parlour that passer-by’s can purchase from, or you have an event you wish to book an ice cream van for.
